(Apr-17-2012) Capt. Bryan’s boat left Siever’s Cove promptly at 6:30a.m. I didn’t have a clue what to expect but I decided to “put on my big girl panties” and tough it out! On the way out for about the first 20 minutes or so all I could think about was “where’s the ladies room?” Finally deciding it just wasn’t going to happen for the next 6 hours, I settled into the challenge. After we stopped and anchored, the Captain was kind enough to bait my hook and cast way out there for me. Within minutes, my husband landed his first speckled trout, 23 inches! When I snagged my first one, I must have screamed like I was stung by something. The excitement of pulling in this fighting, sparkling creature was enough to make me wet my pants (I guess I was still thinking about that a little). So I caught the next 23 incher, though my husband said his catch was fatter than mine. Yes, we are a bit competitive, that’s okay, it makes it more fun that way. We caught 11 trout in all – what a fantastic trip! One of us caught more than the other, but who’s counting?
GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
