Go Go Go

By Georgia Osten
We hit Florida with a bang! We arrived at our destination noon-ish on Friday, and met the rest of the family at Texas Road House for dinner. Thank goodness I brought “Texas” T-Shirts to represent our fine state! Stayed up Friday evening to watch all 10 innings of Game 1 of the World Series. So far so good!

Saturday morning was an early riser. We had a Regatta to get to. PawPaw & Daddy left early to get Addyson and her friend to Sarasota in time and Mommy and followed in another car so we could leave one car with Addyson. I decided I needed to buy a Regatta t-shirt, so I took off to one of the kiosks. As I was walking, a woman came up to me. “You look like you know what you’re doing,” she said, and proceeded to ask me directions. Funny, I was wearing my “Texas” sweatshirt at that time and here we are in Florida and she was from Florida. “Sorry,” I said, “this is only my second Regatta and I’m not even from here.” Here she is, 1500 meters later, she’s the first rower facing the coxswain. So proud!

A slight break when we returned home before heading out to the ball field to watch two games, same time, adjacent fields – Michael on the Nationals and Dax on the Chiefs. Saturday night, easy peasy Taco Night and MORE baseball – Game 2 World Series. Batta Bing!

On Sunday, we got to sleep in until 7am. Dax’s game was about 40 minutes from home, Michael’s game about 20 minutes from home. These are both The Chiefs, different age categories. Turns out Dax’s two games were back-to-back so The Girls stayed for both. Once that was won, we headed over for Michael’s second game beginning at 1pm.

Back home, Special Chicken a-la Grandma and everybody was exhausted and because it was school the next day, we all hit the hay early.

Up again at 6am to tell all the school kids and the 6th grade math teacher-Mommy bye bye. The guys ventured off for a meeting and I ventured off by myself for a morning of shopping. First trip to Trader Joe’s clear across Tampa where they used to live. I saw some familiar territory that I remembered. They set the GPS for Home Goods. Oh my goodness, what fun I had.

Headed home just in time to get the guys and head over to the school for Michael’s soccer game. Yes, I’m getting my much-needed dose of Grand’s Sports! A lot of exercise and a lot of fresh air. No wonder we’re exhausted after a whole day!

Tomorrow is our exit Florida day. We hope to be on the road by 6am (another early morning in store).

Trunk or Treat – In our absence, we had some mighty excellent assistance. Hope you enjoy Cheryl’s pictures and Ace’s story!
