Houston Audubon Bolivar Flats Ramble

Come explore Houston Audubon’s Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary and see what the forces of nature have left for us on the beach and in the wrack lines with Houston Audubon Conservation Specialist Pete Deichmann. You’ll walk along the beach and out onto the flats discovering the diversity of life along the gulf coast. It’s a perfect opportunity for a family day trip. This program is FREE, suitable for all ages and runs on the first Saturday of each month beginning March 1st. No pre-registration required. We meet at 10:00 am at the vehicular barrier. Take TX-87 and turn toward the beach on Rettilon Road. in Port Bolivar. When you get to the beach turn right and travel 3/4 mile to the vehicular barrier. Hope to see you there!

    The Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary is great for birding and just to explore! You can take the Galveston Ferry from Galveston to the Bolivar Peninsula, and then it is just a short drive to the bird sanctuary.
