Max Watson said his final good-bye last Saturday, August 22nd, just after he and Edith celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. A Celebration of His Life was held in his honor at the bird sanctuary, down at the Flats. A eulogy was given by his nephew and his ashes were scattered in the dunes. Janet Leigh sang Swing Low Sweet Chariot as people dabbed at their eyes with whatever they could find – I used my cap. Max touched so many lives and so many came out to pay tribute to this wonderful man. He suffered a debilitating stroke 19 years ago, but Edith never wavered from his side. I remember seeing them at a family gathering probably a year ago at Stingaree. Max was always a big hugger and never failed to flex his biceps for a pretty girl. Max, we know you are at peace now – we will take care of Edith for you, and we’ll all see you again one of these days.

Rest peacefully Max. Love and Sympathy, the Cole family
