Please join the Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce for their General Meeting on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 @ 5pm. Guest speaker Sid Bouse will give a presentation on the need to form an Emergency Service District to address the current and future emergency services on the Bolivar Peninsula. All members of the community are encouraged to attend. The meeting will be held at the Joe Faggard Community Center, 1750 Hwy 87, Crystal Beach, Texas.
A RESOLUTION IN FAVOR OF AN ELECTION TO FORM AN EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT ON BOLIVAR PENINSULA
Whereas, the Commissioners Court of Galveston Texas has scheduled a public hearing on February 19, 2013 to set an election for forming an Emergency Services District on Bolivar Peninsula, and,
Whereas, the District would provide fire protection services and other emergency services on the Peninsula, and,
Whereas, the District is supported by the High Island, Crystal Beach, and Port Bolivar Volunteer Fire Departments and the Peninsula Emergency Medical Services organization, and,
Whereas, the District would levy a small property tax to fund the fire and medical services.
Therefore, we, The Bolivar Chamber of Commerce endorse the formation of such a District and urge the Galveston Commissioner Court to approve the request for an election.
