(Apr-24-2012) We went on our daily “outing” just a while ago. First stop, the post office…hmmm, uneventful…Our next stop was to drive through Emerald I to see if the Valentine’s were still in production. And yes, they are! A hustle and bustle of activity embraced us as we drove up. Still making deck furniture and running a pest control service. Debbie Valentine is holding down the business with a lot of excellent help, skilled builders and obviously, people who just love her. Debbie, as always, greeted us with hugs and big smiles. She said she’s hanging in there and her spirits are high. Her children adore her, her son wishes she’d move out to San Diego to be with his family, he promised “no mosquitos,” mild and constant temperatures. Then he threw in some more bait: “Mom, we’re expecting #3 in October.” Wow, another grandchild for Debbie. Well, these are tough opponents. I told her she wouldn’t like San Diego (wink) and we’d see her back after her visit, but we all know we can’t compete when it comes to grandkids. I don’t know if she reads my Sand Bucket, so if you do, and if you see her, tell her we love her and we hope she comes back to us.
GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
