Thanks to a generous donation by Samson Energy, the long awaited and much anticipated Jane Long Memorial is closer to reality. The memorial will be part of the Bolivar Gateway Project to be located at the entrance to Fort Travis Seashore Park, just off Hwy 87 near Port Bolivar, approximately one mile from the ferry landing.
On Tuesday, March 20, Samson Energy presented a check for $20,000 to the County Commissioners to fund the construction of the project. Members of the Jane Long Society and representatives from Samson were on hand for the presentation. All members of the commissioners court were also present. Precinct 1 Commissioner Patrick Doyle expressed thanks on behalf of the court and said this was the largest donation received since he has been in office.
