Summary: Before the freshwater runoff started both sides of the cut were producing excellent trout and redfish action. But, when the rain from last week started to roll through the pass to the Gulf the action slowed during outgoing tides but picked up on incoming tides. Regardless of this surf action on the east side of the pass still offered excellent trout fishing for waders fishing Mirror lures with several large trout to 6lbs caught.
Speckled Trout– Good to excellent trout action in surf and along Gulf wall. Night fishing produced good catches with specks to 6lbs being caught. Redfish– Good redfish both day and night but best redfish action on the bay side during early morning incoming tides. Finger mullet or live shad best bait . (Limits: 20inches to 28inches for 3 reds- with one over 28inches when tagged in addition to the 3 fish daily slot-limit)-
Flounder– Good flounder action on early morning incoming tides along bay side bulkheads. Flounder anglers need not cast more than 15ft from bulkheads for flounder- best bait is finger mullet. (Limit- 14inches minimum for 5 flounder per day).
