Fishing Report For Rollover Pass TX April 23, 2012

Summary- Last week provided good speckled trout action both in the surf as well as the pass- redfish bites slowed a bit but began to pick up toward weeks end- this coming week of prime fishing weather should provide some really prime catching activity.

Speckled Trout– Night-lighters doing well when tides allow for specks from 3 to 7lbs- daytime trout action very good early in the cut as well as rollover bay for under sized and keeper specks to 3 lbs- lots of baitfish and shrimp coming thru the pass now attracting good speck action – (Size and Limits- 15inches to 25inches for 10 specks with one 25incher per day when added as part of the daily limit).

Redfish– Good to excellent at night under lights- daytime redfish activity slow to good for reds up to 28inches- (Size and Limits- 20inches to 28inches for 3 reds- with one over 28inches when tagged in addition to the 3 fish daily slot-limit).

Flounder– Slow but bulkhead fishing with gulps or finger mullet producing good fish to 20inches-(limit- 14inches minimum for 5 flounder per day).

Black Drum- LOTS OF UNDERSIZED PUPPY DRUM- these are NOT croaker people because they “croak” but are to be released or heavy fines will fill your cooler instead of fish- – REMEMBER- ALL drum under 14inces and over 30inches MUST be released- NO TAGGING- ( Limits- 5 per day at 15- 30 inches).

GAFFTOP Good sized gafftop catfish coming for anglers fishing squid, shrimp, or cut-baits- (limits- 14inch minimum no creel limit).

Sheepshead- SLOW – (Limits- 15 inches minimum with 5 allowed per day).

Sand/Gulf Trout -Good sand and gulf trout in cut being caught on shrimp or cut-baits – (no limits-).

Whiting/Croaker– Hand size croaker and good whiting in cut hitting shrimp or cut-baits- ((Limits-No Limits).
