Has it really been a whole year? We are visiting three of the six grandkids here in sunny California. As we drove up to the house, we were rushed into the family Tahoe for a trip to Cannery Row to see Santa Claus. We didn’t even empty the car, just reached into the suitcases and grabbed some sweatshirts and off we “flew like the down of a thistle.” Santa was very welcoming and patient as he heard our wishes for Christmas. Later, exhausted from our trip, we got the kids bathed, and settled down for a little ‘Sound of Music’. Between little cat naps and trips to the kitchen for refreshments, we made it to the part where Captain Von Trapp and Maria danced, the Baroness is getting jealous – she can see some sparks going on.
In the morning, we were awakened by the 7, 5 and 2 year old residents of the household. Time to go to the donut store! Yes, Monterey has a wonderful donut store, not as good as Dannay’s, but “you get what you get.” Actually, they make a really great apple fritter.

Elfie must have heard us talking about donuts last night – he was ready to go this morning.
