Shannon O’Brien is used to carrying the load in the 11:00 Sunday Scramble at the Ranch. An excellent ball striker, Shannon is usually close to the hole and in excellent position to make a little gas money for daughter Holly. He could have left the putter in the bag Sunday, because Charlie Brannon and local fishing legend Dewey Jones put on a putting demonstration on their way to a 4 under par 32 that beat Jason Pettit, Howard Porteous and King Sonny Wong by two shots.
Not in the hunt were Michael Comeaux, David Willis, and Lance Ferguson with a one over par 37. Now, to those of you that don’t play golf, one over par in a nine hole scramble is playing some pretty poor golf. You almost hate to turn your scorecard in. But Comeaux’s team was not alone. Outer Banks transplant Russell Berge, Agro-American–To-Be Jentry Weisinger and Mike VanZandt also embarrassed themselves with a one over par 37.
